One full-time position. Schedule: Monday – Friday 8 a.m –5 p.m., possibly rotating with a Tuesday-Saturday 8 a.m.–5 p.m. schedule approximately every third or fourth month.
This position performs a variety of heavy customer information and referral service, education, technical, administrative and clerical functions in support of the Metro Recycling Information Center (RIC). Primary duties include answering phone calls and inquiries from the public, businesses and other government agencies; making referrals to Metro programs, private sector companies and non-profit organizations; educating customers about waste prevention, reuse and recycling options; updating and writing computer database files; responding to e-mail requests from the public; and completing related records and reports. This position involves extensive public contact work over the telephone, as the Recycling Information Center is responsible for handling approximately 100,000 calls per year. Work is performed utilizing a geographical information database. Supervision is received from the Education and Outreach Manager.
Knowledge of and experience in recycling and waste reduction education, and Spanish language skills are preferred.
