Overview: Junk to Funk Trashion Collective, a socially responsible business providing “Trashion (trash + fashion) Edutainment for the Masses”, seeks an outstanding and passionate individual for our marketing internship position. We won’t settle for less than a highly intelligent, kick-ass go-getter that can get things done.

About Junk to Funk: The Portland based Junk to Funk is unique in combining visual and performance art, fashion, sustainability education, interactive activities and entertainment. Our focus of using "Trashion" in various programs and events provides people an opportunity to connect, conceptualize and receive art in a creatively re-used form. Junk to Funk encourages and inspires positive behavioral change by asking audiences to reconsider their consumption and disposal choices in an innovative and playful, yet provocative and memorable way. Position Purpose: The Marketing Intern will be instrumental in helping to grow and market the Junk to Funk brand and it’s mission through various guerilla marketing and social media outlets.

Duration: 3 Months minimum, preference given to those who may be willing to stay on for a longer term. Flexible start date and duration possible.

Time Commitment: 10-20 hours per week. Hours and duration may be customized to meet personal interests or school internship requirements.

Areas of Responsibility:
· Increase our profile and maintain an ongoing presence on external social media networks
· Develop content and manage distribution and updates on company blog, newsletter and website
· Significant research to contribute to company’s marketing strategy including social media tools and best practices, market research and monitoring activity across a variety of social networks
· Assist in developing, planning and executing company events and guerilla promotions
· Write press releases
· Assist in assembling and distributing media kits
· Other tasks based on skills and assignment

Necessary Qualifications:
· Passion for and sincere understanding of conservation, waste reduction, recycling and mindful consumption
· Passion for art and creative re-use
· Active participation and experience with social media technology
· Excellent interpersonal communication and writing skills
· Must be an organized self starter with the ability to work independently, manage your time effectively and solve problems with minimal supervision
· You must have a high level of integrity, attention to detail and reliability for follow through
· Must own a personal computer, ability to respond to emails in a timely manner
· Proficiency in the use of a personal computer, Microsoft Office (Excel and Word a must) and related software and other tools necessary for organization and communications
· Ability to develop a working knowledge of new computer programs quickly
· Thrives under pressure and deadlines while being able to maintain a positive and even humorous attitude

Bonus If You Have:
• Graphic design and other creative based skills
• Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop experience
• Previous marketing experience and/or major in marketing
• Video editing (doesn’t have to be fancy, could be an understanding of i movie and understanding of formatting and distribution for YouTube and other video sharing sites).
• Familiarity with website development, online publishing, e-newsletter communication programs, photo editing, video editing

Work Schedule and Location: The intern will be working a minimum of 10 hours per week and up to 20 hours per week. Work hours will be split between the home office of Junk to Funk Director and work preformed on intern’s own time and location. As a telecommuter working part of your hours remotely, you’ll need to have a solid work ethic and focus to meet deadlines and successfully work from your home office. Intern will work with Director to create weekly deliverables and timelines.

Compensation: This is an unpaid position, however college credit is available.
