The position may be filled in Portland, Oregon, or Seattle, Washington, and will involve periodic travel within the Pacific Northwest and occasionally beyond. Cascadia also has staff and programs in Alaska and Vancouver, British Columbia. Cascadia/ILBI offers a collaborative, team-oriented workplace that treats employees as responsible professionals. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
•Be responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of specific projects ensuring consistency with Cascadia’s/ILBI’s strategy, commitments and goals.
•Contribute to the creation of the Red List Ready program and administer the day-to-day duties associated with it. The Red List Ready Program will act as an organizational framework to share information about the ecological impacts of building products that meet the criteria of the Living Building Challenge. (Refer to Living Building Challenge 2.0, Materials Petal for more information)
•Develop and implement the Auditor Program for Living Building Challenge project certification and contribute to the creation of the Auditor Training process. Manage all aspects of the documentation and certification process, from submittals to awards.
•Contribute to the evolution of future iterations of the Living Building Challenge.
•Assist fellow Cascadia and ILBI staff and Board members periodically on other programs as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
•Passion for Cascadia’s and ILBI’s mission and an enthusiasm for representing a dynamic environmental organization.
•Self-motivation and initiative. Ability to work effectively with minimal direction: a self-starter.
•Minimum 5-7 years of experience in the green building sector with advanced knowledge of green building design and construction practices, technologies and materials, and the ability to articulate the environmental, health, and economic benefits of green building.
•Bachelor’s degree at a minimum with Master’s Degree preferred. Professional degree related to building industry strongly desired (architect, engineer, interior designer, construction management, etc.)
•Proven project management experience, with excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and discretion with confidential information.
•Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of people representing different organizations, backgrounds and experiences.
•Experience effectively managing staff and volunteers.
•Hands-on experience working on “green building” projects – experience implementing the Living Building Challenge or LEED projects is preferred, but not required.
•Polished oral and written communications skills.
•Self-sufficient office skills: ability to work with MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint. Hardware and software will be Mac based.
•Friendly, outgoing nature and an eagerness to serve the public interest. A good sense of humor is greatly desired. An ability to go with the flow in a fast pace, high-energy organization is a key to success in this job.

BACKGROUND & SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY
The Cascadia Green Building Council (Cascadia) and the International Living Building Institute (ILBI) seek a Certification Manager to join our growing ILBI staff. The Certification Manager is responsible for developing and overseeing methods to gather and disseminate critical information to support Living Building Challenge certification and advocacy goals (www.ilbi.org). The successful candidate will advance the program’s integrity, have a proven track record, and a working understanding of environmental issues in the green building movement. Strong writing and listening skills are essential, as is the ability to manage several projects simultaneously under the pressure of tight deadlines.
