Job Title: Green Space Initiative Specialist
Status: Regular, exempt, full-time
Supervisor (position): Green Space Initiative Manager
Salary: $29,000 - $33,000
Benefits eligibility: Eligible for full benefits
Hours: Tuesday – Saturday during planting / outreach season; M-F rest of year. Fairly flexible
within that framework, establishes schedule and makes changes known

Qualifications
Strong job candidates will be:
• Well organized with excellent time management skills.
• Skilled in collaboration and teamwork.
• Experienced in supervising others and working with a wide range of volunteers.
• Skilled in using Microsoft Word, Excel and Access and ArcGIS.
• Trained in current restoration techniques and very familiar with plant communities of the Pacific Northwest
• Positive, flexible attitude and sense of humor.
• Experienced in implementing restoration projects and/or have academic background in natural resource
management.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly and do hard physical work outside in a variety of weather conditions.
• Have a desire to work both outdoors and in an office environment.
• Able to work on weekends
• Have excellent customer service skills.

Description of Duties
Design and implement vegetative restoration and green space planting projects in partnership with public agencies,
non-profits, individual landowners, and Friends groups in accordance with Friends of Trees’ mission.
Green Space / Natural Area Restoration Projects

Works with / Assists the FOT GSI Manager with the following:
• Forms effective partnerships to plan and implement restoration projects.
• Participates in efforts to improve program and organizational effectiveness and efficiency.
• Initiates and conducts planting and maintenance projects
• Initiates and conducts site preparation and maintenance activities.
• Coordinates and oversees weekend NAR and GSI plantings and represents Friends of Trees at such plantings,
including public speaking and media interviews.
• Maintains data on plantings and survival rates.
• Acknowledges sponsors as required by sponsorship agreements.
• Participates in efforts to raise funds for GSI program.
• Effectively manages active GSI grants.
• Orients, trains and supervises GSI volunteers.
• Assures documentation of GSI volunteer participation.
• Coordinate and staff Outreach events to recruit Crew Leaders and educate public surrounding GSI projects.
Administration
• Assists GSI Manager with billing for planting projects.
• Assists other planting staff in maintaining and ordering all tree planting supplies.
• Participates in efforts to improve program and organizational effectiveness and efficiency.
General staff duties:
• Attends staff meetings and retreats, and reporting on status of GSI program
• Submits accurate record of time and expenses to office manager at month end
• Helps keep office workspace, tools and tool room and work vehicles in good condition.
• Participates in fundraising for FOT general funds (phone banks, events etc.)
• Contribute to Friends of Trees blog.
• And other duties as assigned
