Earth Advantage seeks a Portland area commercial buildings project manager who will support commercial-related initiatives internally and with external contracts. The commercial project manager will work with developers, owners, designers, and contractors to drive energy efficiency and sustainable design in small commercial building projects. Preferred candidates will have technical knowledge of commercial building systems (i.e., HVAC, lighting, envelope, controls). Candidates must also have a successful track record of independently managing projects, proactively developing client relationships, and meeting business objectives.

• Bachelor or Master of Architecture, Environmental Management, Sustainable Development or related degree
• Minimum of five (5) years professional experience in design and construction related industry
• Interest and/or expertise on climate science, sustainable building design, and carbon reduction strategies
• Thorough knowledge of green building practices, advantages, relative costs and tradeoffs, and benefits including energy efficiency and environmental measures
• Strong understanding of commercial building design and construction processes and techniques, building materials, and performance of energy and water systems
Primary Responsibilities
• Identify and engage clients and partners (contractors, commercial developers, architects, designers, builders, or other industry groups) in support of Earth Advantage Commercial (EAC) program locally, regionally, and nationally.
• Build new and leverage existing relationships with commercial developers, architects, green consultants, and contractors in the energy efficiency and construction community
• Work with project design teams to facilitate and explore integration of sustainable building practices, facilitate and participate in design strategy workshops
• Collaborate and assist existing and new EAC project teams through the building certification process
• Technically review project documents for acceptance and compliance with program guidelines and goals
• Perform on-site inspections and coordinate performance verifications with relevant contractors
• Represent Earth Advantage at speaking engagements, and industry events
• Participate in planning, research, writing, and stakeholder surveys to inform the development of EAC program tools, collateral, processes, and offerings
• Contribute to the strategic planning and pursuance of long term goals for the commercial department as appropriate
Additional Knowledge/Preferred Experience
• LEED® AP or experience working directly with green building rating systems
• Experience with major building systems (i.e., HVAC, structure, water, envelope, lighting)
• Prior experience or familiarity with building commissioning services
• Knowledge of energy modeling software and protocols
• Experience with website development
