This position in Metro’s Communications Department supports the natural gardening and toxics reduction programs within the Sustainability Center. This position is responsible for independently performing a variety of mid-level public affairs activities related to developing, managing, implementing and evaluating a marketing and media plan to promote Metro’s natural gardening program. Communications goals include effective use of earned media, the social web, print and web-based advertising to draw visitors and participants to Metro’s natural gardening presentations and demonstration gardens and generate consumer requests for and downloads of Metro natural gardening publications. Metro’s natural gardening program moves residents to reduce pesticide use in their yards, helping decrease the amount and toxicity of the region’s waste; protect waterways; and make the environment safer for people, pets and wildlife.

This is a part-time temporary position; 20 hours per week. Duration approximately seven months.
