A "petal by petal" discussion of the Living Building Challenge 2.0 imperatives for the Earth Harmony Habitats Development

Earth Harmony Habitats is a 4‐unit intentional community developed by David Burdick and associates for the Portland Oregon area. The project consists of 4 octagon‐shaped structures – small in footprint, and includes a vertical garden greenhouse. Designed for today’s eco‐conscious urban families, couples, or individuals seeking a way to live sustainably, Earth Harmony Habitats harvests all its own electricity and rainwater, captures and composts all its own wastes and water, and grows all its own vegetables within an annual basis. Affordable for present and future generations as land is not owned but held by a local Land Trust. The homes represent a way to flourish within an equitable amount of earth’s carrying capacity without sacrificing the comforts of modern life.
