** Jean Murray, Solar Oregon Board Member will be discussing concentrated solar power and her work in France

"All of our energy needs could be supplied from solar energy. There is no technical or physical limitation that stands in our way; the primary technical challenge is to transform sunlight into an energy carrier that both stores and is capable of transporting solar energy. The field of High-Temperature Solar Chemistry has developed and demonstrated at a practical scale several approaches to this challenge. The Holy Grail of this work is to use highly-concentrated solar energy to produce hydrogen in a carbon-free cycle, and several systems are being explored. This talk will present state-of-the-art activity in this line of research. Jean Murray was appointed by the Department of Energy to represent the US to the International Energy Agency in the field of Solar Chemistry, and recently returned to the US after nearly 10 years of research at the Solar Furnace in Odeillo, France."
