The workshop will focus on recruiting and leading volunteers; project logistics and safety; preventing volunteer burnout; working with the media; and fundraising. The Volunteer Action Training curriculum is designed to help you work with your neighbors to improve your community. There is a suggested donation of $20 for this workshop to cover the cost of refreshments and training materials which attendees can pay by cash or check at the training or donate online before hand.
SOLVE is excited to announce that we are currently accepting applications from volunteer leaders for project support on our annual Earth Day event, SOLVE IT presented by Portland General Electric. SOLVE IT events will take place across the state on Saturday, April 21st from 9am-1pm; teachers are encouraged to involve their students in service-learning activities any time between April 14th and April 28th. The deadline for applications is Monday, January 31st.
Get involved with your solar community! Learn about Solar Oregon’s education and outreach programs and current volunteer opportunities. We have a particular need for grantwriters, website gurus, energy educators and solar enthusiasts. Refreshments and training in solar energy basics provided.
Improve water quality and habitat with SOLV at Willow Creek in Beaverton on Saturday, July 16th from 9 am to 12 pm. SOLV has been working with students from Rachel Carson Environmental Middle School for the past seven years to restore Willow Creek. Take a look at what the students have accomplished and come install coffee bags and mulch the recently planted native trees and shrubs. SOLV will provide tools and gloves for the project, but be sure to wear closed toed shoes or rubber boots if you have them and to dress for the weather.
Volunteers needed to assist with outdoor family environmental education event this Saturday, June 4th. Needs include:
• Registration Assistance (3-4 volunteers) 9:30am-12:30pm, noon-2:30pm… We are expecting 150-200 guests at this event and we need 3 to 4 more individuals to help us staff the registration/check-in booth and adjacent passport/program station. A training will be provided at 9:30am, and a second training at noon. Volunteers are needed for both shifts, but especially the first shift.
The Holiday Half: This half-marathon and 5 K will be held in North Portland, starting and ending at the Adidas North America Campus. This first time event sold out in 3 weeks! The fantastic course travels along Willamette Boulevard with views of Forest Park and the river, through the Overlook neighborhood, past the University of Portland campus and under the St. John's Bridge before turning around at Pier Park. From holiday inspired costumes to live music and carolers to local food and drink - this event will be great fun for athlete participants and volunteers! Get in on the festive fun-volunteers still needed!

Come to our Volunteer Training to learn about the urban and rural reserves process and ways you can help raise awareness about the importance of protecting farmland and investing in our town centers.
