Design, at its core, is problem-solving. We are presented with a problem and use our talents to solve it. Design is usually thought of as a profession. However, many designers and creative thinkers are using design-thinking to solve social issues. Generate: Social Change is a platform for designers and creatives to discuss and share with other forward-thinkers who want to see a more sustainable world.
Oregon has earned a reputation of leadership in sustainability and is a living laboratory of successes, challenges, and on-going experiments. The Oregon Sustainability Experience allows participants to explore this rich environment, with hands-on learning from innovators in sustainability in four sectors: business, university, government, and not-for-profit. The 2011 program offers two distinct tracks: Sustainable Agriculture & Food Systems and Sustainable Urban Built Environments.
Join us for our 4th SHIFT, an event showcasing sustainable design thinking and practices through 10 engaging, inspiring and informative 5-minute presentations.
What is sustainable design? It’s about re-thinking creative solutions to better communicate social and environmental messages to businesses and consumers—through actions like elevating green brands in the market, to smarter strategies that reduce waste and reach the right customer, to wise materials selection, to more authentic communication of the issues.
