Living green roofs provide many benefits, including saving money on utilities while greatly extending the life of a roof. There’s more to a green roof than putting soil and plants up on your shingles, and this workshop will give you the opportunity to learn it from a regional industry expert.
Plant native trees and shrubs in the Portland area this fall with SOLV. We have plantings every from October to March Saturday from 9 am to 12pm. SOLV provides all the tools and gloves as well as the plants - you just show up! By planting native trees and shrubs volunteers will be lowering stream temperatures and creating and ecosystem that will filter polluted stormwater runoff, improve water quality, provide better habitat for wildlife, and be more resilient to climate change.
Save the date for SOLV’s Beach and Riverside Cleanup, presented by the Oregon Lottery, on Saturday, September 17th! Thousands of volunteers will clean up trash and remove invasive plants from Oregon’s coastline and along rivers, creeks and lakes in Oregon and SW Washington. This work will improve the quality of water that we all drink, and use for recreation and agriculture.
Join West Linn High School teacher Jim Hartmann as he shares his knowledge of the common birds found at SOLV restoration sites, why they are important to a healthy ecosystem, and how they can be identified. Come early and enjoy some food and a drink at the Bridgeport Brewery.
